Family Crisis Services of Northwest Mississippi, Inc.
Founded in October, 1992 as a Non-Profit Organization |
Family Crisis Services offers a 24-hour crisis hotline for anyone who needs to talk, day or night, seven days a week. Our volunteers and staff are ready to listen to anyone who has questions, concerns, or is in crisis. This crisis line is not a replacement for therapeutic needs, but our staff and volunteers will offer anyone who calls information on available options for services, referrals to resources, an escort to the hospital/law enforcement if necessary, and a patient and understanding person who will listen if you just need to talk. You may call the crisis line anonymously if desired, and we do not have caller ID. There is a local number (662) 234-9929, and a toll-free number 1-800-230-9929 available.
Family Crisis Services offers counseling services to adult victims of sexual assault, attempted sexual assault, kidnapping, survivors of childhood sexual/physical/emotional abuse, family or friends of homicide victims, HIV/AIDS positive adult and children, child sexual/physical/emotional abuse victims, and secondary victims (family and friends of victims) of all the aforementioned listings. Related issues will be handled on a case by case basis, and referrals will be made as necessary. All counseling is free and confidential, we have therapists specifically for children and specifically for adults.
As victims of assault, abuse, and other trauma go through the system, often times they need help understanding what is happening and why it happens the way it does. As victim advocates, Family Crisis Services staff and volunteers offer information to our clients and their families about the criminal justice process, the judicial system, child protection, and more. Family Crisis Services will prepare and accompany our clients to go to court, help file victim compensation claims, and work to meet all other needs the client and their family may have.
Family Crisis Services offers a resource library for anyone interested in reading about sexual assault, sexual/physical, emotional abuse, homicide, HIV and AIDS, and more. Internet access is also available for further research. Education on more case specific information is available through meetings with our adult case manager and our children's case manager.
