I attended the Business Card Con 05 this weekend in Kissimmee, Florida, about 40 miles
from my home. Excellent choice of location. This is my first business card
convention and I really did not know what to expect. But the attendees made me
feel real welcome. Everyone just set out cards and said help yourself. Wow what
a deal. If my memory is correct there were eight collectors and two quests in
attendance.
First of all, I want to thank John & Cindy Puckett from Gainesville, Florida, for
arrainging the convention. They did an outstanding job. The set up was perfect.

Nice large room with large tables. Six of us went out to dinner Friday evening
and had a great meal and told lots of war stories concerning business cards.
Some even started trading that evening.
On Saturday, we were suppose to start at 8 A.M., but I stopped by at 7:30 and
John and Cindy were all set up already. So I went and got my cards and set up.
Then the fun began. The attendees started coming in and setting up and all
greeted each other and said take any of these cards you want. Most of us said
what our favorites are and the others started picking them for us as they went
through cards looking for what they wanted.
John Puckett started pulling names for door prizes at about 9 A.M. I won after
there were several prizes given and I went for the big box of cards. Thank you

Suzanne McCartney for donating them as a prize. They are absolutely fantastic. I
went through them last night and found many International Cards and even one
from Winter Springs, Florida, the last town I lived in until January of this year. I
also received a bunch of cards donated by Steve Patterson. They were also great
and I want to thank Steve.
Late in the morning Doug Sleeth from Warner Robins, Georgia, arrived with a big box of
Walter Day cards. I was told that they normally contain about 20,000 cards. He
dumped them on one table and suddenly there were about nine chairs around that
table and everyone was picking through them. It was as quiet as when everyone is

hungry and dinner is first served. The only sound was occasionally when someone
said here is a realtor card or restaurant card, or police card, or tattoo card
etc. We had fun for hours. Then about 5 P.M. when things started breaking up
three of us picked up what was left and all left with 2,000 plus cards. Thanks
Doug for bringing those cards.
I packed up at about 5 P.M. and there were still 3 collectors looking at cards.
But I was weary and my eyes were tired. I really met from great business cards
collectors, met Jim Kitchell who I had been trading with and met several
collectors that I will start trading with. Thanks again, John and Cindy and IBCC
for a great convention. I had fun and walked away with a lot of cards including
some duplicates for trading. I only wished more collectors could have attended.

I was one of the fortunate ones who was able to attend the
convention in Kissimmee, Florida last week end. Kissimmee is about

250 miles north of my home in Fort Lauderdale.
I had a fantastic time at the gathering. There were more cards than
anyone could imagine and I surely got my share of the give away
cards.
I met the nicest people you could ever come in contact with.
Everyone had their cards and tables displayed so professionally.

the event. I know and appreciate all the planning and hard work that
went into making this convention s success.
I look forward to attending more conventions in the future,
hopefully in Florida again. Florida is a beautiful state.
I was lucky enough to win a door prize. There were so many
different prizes to choose from. All these prizes were donated by
members of IBCC. Thanks to each of them, Suzanne McCartney, Sheila

Stuart, Jack Gurner, John Puckett, Ed Banik, Joe Bellucci, Bud
Mason, Steve Patterson, Reni Cohen, Jim Kitchell and myself. I hope
I did not miss anyone. Anyways THANKS.
The scavenger hunt contest was a lot of fun also. I enjoyed
participating in it.
I almost forgot to mention how nice the hotel was. John and Cindy
did a nice job in choosing this hotel. The meeting room was
spacious and comfortable as were the guest rooms.
I would like to express my personal thanks to all who made this week
end so memorable.
