"B" State Championship
were held in Amory, MS July 15th Adrienne
Gispen , Sara McCrary and Andrew Albee represented NMS. Andrew bettered all
his times and received three fifth places. Sara McCrary also bettered her
times and had numerous top six placements. Adrienne Gispen took home the
11&12 Highpoint award and chopped seconds off her 100 times. Good job by
these three on a real HOTTT! day.
United State Swimming State Championships held down
in Biloxi Mississippi. The team only traveled with six girls and placed 9th
overall. Taking home over 15 State championship titles. Leigh Smith won
eight titles in the 13 &14 year old age group and received the highpoint
award for her age group . Leigh will represent MS at Zones in TX the week of
August 1st. Alyssa Lee broke a 10 & under record,
one which had existed for twelve years, in the 100m back. This earned Alyssa a
submittable time for the top 16 national standard. She received five state
championship titles. Fiona Gispen captured two titles in 13 & 14 age
group and was chosen for the zone team . Amy Claire Smith swam in the
15-18 age group, as a new 15 year old, and placed top 8 in all but one event,
taking state runner-up in the breastroke. She will also go to
zones with her two teammates. Adrienne Gispen and Sara Field, both of Oxford,
also competed. They bettered times contributing to the teams overall success.
ZONE Competition: Sugarland TX : Gulf swimming hosted the Zone competition
this year and three of the girls from NMS were chosen to swim for the State .
They were Amy Claire Smith (15-18) Leigh Smith (13&14) and Fiona Gispen
(13&14). This is quite a compliment to these girls and our team.
