Third Annual Hobo Gathering - April 17-23, 2005

Members of the Hobo community helped out Saturday morning during a fund drive by Water Valley High School East Lab students who were raising money for the medical expenses of Tonya Stone, who was injured in a recent car accident. Collecting on Main Street in front of the Water Valley Casey Jones Railroad Museum were Mama Jo LeCount of Blue Springs, Missouri, (left) and Miss Charlotte O’Briant of Amory, Mississippi, (right) along with local volunteers Bill Norris and WVHS student Cassie Rockette.

Virginia Slim, Steve Anderson of Richmond, Virginia, and National Hobo Queen Sunrise, Dawn DiVenti of Rockford, Illinois, entertain residents at the Yalobusha County Nursing Home on Saturday. Captain Dingo also performed.
Songwriter Ken Hart (second from right) and fellow musicians Daniel Carlish, Steve Thompson (hidden behind Daniel), and Brandon Hughes entertained during the campfire Friday night. Ken’s song, Ain’t No Trains, was inspired by the last train through Water Valley.
