Here is one suggestion for retaining members so they don't join and drop out after a couple months.

I have been asked about the retention of new members--they come a few times, and then we see them no more. Perhaps they haven't been as well oriented as they might be. Perhaps this will be of assistance.
Click here for a copy of what was prepared for the Rotary Club of Oxford to give to new or prospective members. It was put this together after visiting a Rotary Club in Melbourne, Australia, a couple of years ago, so the idea was not mine. Use what you wish. It in .pdf form so if you can to scan the text and use it with your prospective/new members please feel free to use it.* It is also on the district web site (or will be as soon as I get that added.) If you need it in hard-copy form, please feel free to let me know and I will mail it to you.
When I visited the San Francisco downtown club several
years ago (Rotary Club #2!!) I noticed that some pamphlets were in a box where
people could take one. What it was was a brief explanation of Rotary and
a form the person could fill out if they were interested in becoming a Rotarian.
Of course any potential member can't just sign up and become a Rotarian;
the club has to approve. Since the visitor was probably a guest (or speaker)
at the meeting, chances are the person would make a good member of Rotary.
* If you haven't scanned/copied materials from a .pdf file, at the top of the Adobe Reader is a "T" for text. click on it, then scan what you want to copy, go to "Edit" and then click on "Copy." Take it where you want to use it, and "Paste" as you would any other item.
