Gaylon Hall is a native of Huntington, Tennessee. His educational pursuits
include, among others, earning a bachelor of arts degree at the University
of Memphis and completion of the Rhodes College Institute of Executive Leadership
program. He spent 22 years in the U.S. Navy, serving in the Vietnam conflict
where he was awarded the Bronze Star, the Air Medal and the Vietnamese Cross
of Gallantry. He retired from the Navy with the rank of Lieutenant Commander.
After ending his naval career, Gaylon became the director
of the William R. Moore College of Technology in Memphis, where he completed
24 years of service as the head of the college and, only recently retired,
being named director emeritus. He continues to serve in a volunteer capacity
on the advisory board to the Tennessee Higher Education Commission and is
frequently called upon to work with the Council on Occupational Education,
a nationally recognized accrediting agency.
A member of the Rotary Club of Memphis since 1976, he
has served the club as secretary, treasurer, vice-president/program chairman
and president. Gaylon is a double Paul Harris Fellow and a Benefactor.
Gaylon is married to the former Janice Tankersley of
Munford, Tennessee. He has four daughters, Gaylene Zellmer of Nesbit, Mississippi;
Susan Blanchard of Lawrenceville, Georgia; Julia Arnold and Rebecca Hall
of Memphis.
